Haunting memories

Conversations we had,
dreams that we built,
letters we wrote,
the places we met,
gifts we exchanged,
our common friends,
are all now just memories.
Memories that haunt day and night,
but better be forgotten.

Listeners for life time

The clammy pillows,
my damp cheeks,
the walls that gave ears,
eyes that poured and
the heart that was hurt;
Only these have heard
and knows my pain.
But not the one who was
the sole cause for my tears.

It's 34 years..!! And the bond gets even stronger...

Today is a day that's special,
not just for you both, but also for us.
It's the day that you both wedded.
We are here today, only because of your union.
We are very much sure, that during our babyhood
you might not have had sleepness nights due to our constant cries..
Even if we would have kicked you from our baby foot
You would have certainly not shouted at us, instead you would have just smiled at us.
To keep us happy for a moment, you
would have sacrificed your year long dreams.
You are our first teachers who taught us the basic lessons of life
like walk, talk and eat and also made sure we mastered these skills..
Though your heartbeat kept pounding
that we would hurt ourselves,
you still let us go out and play,
so that we would know the world early and better.
You have never objected to our dreams and ideas,
instead you have always been encouraging to fulfill them.
Never have you forced us to do anything,
nor never have you stopped us from doing something new..
We would have not had consensus on few things for which
we would have argued severely with you,
that might have even hurted you a lot.
But for all these, you have never been angry on us.
In a male dominated society that we have,
girl child is always discriminated and discouraged.
But you have never made that true with us,
and you are never disappointed that you have only daughters..
You have always been the right person at the right time.
You have been our care-taker during our childhood,
teacher during pre-school, guide during adolesence
and now. a friend and a philosopher.
You have made innumerable sacrifices for us,
the patience that you have had is unimaginable.
The love and care that you have and have been
showering on us has and knows no limit.
You both are now completing 34 years of your marriage life,
and now the love, trust and bond is even more stronger ..
A very very HAPPY WEDDED DAY Mom & Dad.
All that we are today is just because of you.

Slience mean a lot more, than it really is...

Just because I am silent,
it does n't mean that I am an introvert.
Nor does it mean that I dont
know the art of speaking.
I don't speak, as I do not find any necessity
of me speaking at that particular situation.
And I dont fancy speaking for the sake of others
and blabber something that makes no sense
So you better don't judge my silence as you wish,
because there's an inner truth hidden behind my silence. Be aware...

My V - day poem...

Never had I fancied being in love,
Nor did I believe in teen's love..
But you made me fall for you.
Fall for you, at my age of 13.
From then on, I dreamt about you
day in and day out.
But never knew that
I was building castles in the air..
It had been 5 years, and now
my love for you had gone to infinity..
It was during this time that I learnt, you had
intilled the same feelings that you did for me for two more..!
The moment I got to know this,
I was not afflicted much, as I thought
it was just an infatuation that
existed between us all these years..
As time passed I realised
that it was an infatuation for you,
but deep rooted love for me,
which could never be detached.
Today though I realise it is love,
I can never get you back.
Because love is that which comes from heart
and not through force.
My heart is now shattered,
but in a position that it can be repaired .
Everytime I try bringing it together,
my hands start shivering as I fear that it would blast out as it never did and turn to irrepairable..
Even though I love you a lot,
you have been the root cause for all my miseries.
And today's the world's finest day for all,
but you have made it a worst one for me, because of your chased memories....

Corruption : A bete noire of our society

The country has fallen...
fallen into the clutches of corruption.
Corruption has become a storm,
a main faux pas to the country.

For many people round the globe,
it has made things a piece of cake.
And for a few more,
it has made it arduous.

There are populace who have made this
as their way of living.
There are people who have become wealthy,
and also people who have grieved, just because of this.

Though everyone's congnizant
that its not ethical,
Not many are bothered, as its a
cake walk and a blue streak for the accomplishment of their tasks.

Still, there are many who have
and have been lobbying against it.
There are many acts passesd,
just to bat this out.

Many people have got down on the streets,
indulged in hugry strikes to abrogate it.
There are many who have lost themselves
just to knock the hell out of it.

Besides these interminable, dragged out efforts by forthright people,
still there are treacherous people who indulge and abet corrution.
And the best thing for these one's,
is to call them on the carpet and severely penalize...

Education : A business hub..

During the school days, not many (atleast for me) bother to know about the fees that their parents pay for their education. Those who shift from one school to another would atleast have a rough idea about the admission process, yearly fees, monthly fees, etc.. But for those who get admitted to the schools in pre-nursery or lower kindergarten and continue in the same school till they complete their 10th or 12th would hardly remember or its just a state of impossible for them to remember their admission process and the fee structures.
It was same with me as well.. I got into a school in the pre-nursery and continued in the same school for almost 12-13 years. I ofcourse don't remember the admission procedures nor the fees that my parents paid in the initial stages of my schooling. To be frank I don't even remember the fees paid for my 10 grade, as it was divided into parts such as quaterly fees along with the yearly fees. My mom would give me the fee card along with the money kept inside the card, which I would n't even bother to open it and would just pay it and get the card back home.
It was after my 10th grade, the time when I had to get my admissions for my Pre-Universty I got to know the admission procedures and the fee structures that the educational institutions charge.
It did differ a lot from one institution to another, and same did the quality of education that they provided to their students. I had applied approximately for 3-4 colleges. out of which 2 had direct admissions. (where a student gets an opportuinty to join the college even before the list of the students eligible would be put on the notice boards) Remember, this option is given only for the students who have their scores 90 & above. By doing this, most of the students immediately get their admissions done fearing that they would lose their seat in that specific college. (which they will not, even if its a bit late) This is a trick played by the colleges to grab all the brainy and smart students to their own college without letting them go for other institutions.
The fees charged by each college varied extensively. Ranging from Rs.9000 to Rs.30,000. (among the colleges that I had applied) I got a chance to get direct admissions in a college where the fees charged was around Rs.24000. It was a college that was one among the top colleges in India, but I had hesitated to join as the fees at other institutions was half of the amount charged here. But not to forget that this college was one of the top colleges in India and had many facilities which other colleges would not provide with. It focussed not only on academics but also had many clubs and associations which had lots of extra-curricular activities. It was indeed a place of opportunities.
But my sister insisted me to join the same college. When I told her about the fee structure in other colleges was much more reasonable, she told me about the donation that she had paid for her Engineering seat. It was 22,000..!! Yeah, you got it right, it was Rs.22,000. And now... (that's after nearly 12 years) the Pre-University fee is more than the donation that was paid to get an Engineering seat.. And now the salary that she earns for a month is twice double the amount that she paid as donation to her Engineering seat. Benjamin Franklin has rightly said "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."
And now, I am pursuing law, an integreted course (BA., LL.B) and the fee that I pay for per year is 40,000. I paid this just a month before my college started. Whereas, my neice, who is just 2 years old got her admissions done for her pre-nursery in July 2011, that is exactly 11 months before he school would start. And the amount she paid here was Rs.60,000..!!! I was shocked and it really sounded ridiculous to me... I really dont think even my primary schooling fees would have exceeded Rs.60,000... Nevertheless, the basics that I got to learn in my childhood can never be matched with the basics that the schools now are providing their students with. The methods of teaching and the technology that schools adopt these days are really acting very contributive to the child's life...
But not to forget, not all schools are upgraded with modern technology or techniques of teaching. Only a few schools have these equipped with them, others have remained the same... While the children at these schools are being given a strong foundation starting from academics to the table manners and other co-curricular activities by these schools, others are just getting plain academic knowledge and a few more fail to get even the plain academic knowledge that is expected for them to get it. Though the government has made education compulsory for all children till the age of 14, the quality of education that is provided by the government is of very low standards.. There are government schools where children of different age groups starting from 6 to 14 are combined together for teaching.. Just imagine, what a 6 year old is being taught, the 14 year old is also gets the samee... There's so much of difference between there IQ's, there thinking capacity.. And there are even schools which have only one teacher who got to manage all the classes in the whole school.. And few more schools, where there are teachers appointed but they hardly turn up to take classes. All these circumstances lead to the increase in number of school drop-outs.
Education has become a business hub. A child who is brainy, smart and intelligent gets a chance to exhibit his talent only if he has money. Because, not all schools provide the required facilities for its students and encourage them to display their expertise. There are only a few schools that undertake creative and innovative steps in teaching. And these schools usually set their fee-structures such that, it cannot be affordable by all the classes of the society... And coming to government schools; our government has provided and presented us with schools and colleges in a manner that people hesitate to tell that they come from the government school or college. This is the plight of our education system...
And those who have made giant investments to get a quality education, make it a point that they get all their investments back along with huge interest rates. And for this, they walk in the path of corruption, so that they can grab maximum money out of the poor, innocent and helpless people. Thus, our education system is acting as a main and basic reason for people to indulge in the un-ethical ways of earning and for the massive growth of corruption in our country.

My dream, my passion and my hope in life...

Since my childhood you've always
been out there for me.
Be it in times of sorrow or happiness,
I have had your company always.

When I was sad, it was your thoughts,
which would get me out of it.
when I was happy you have made me happier by making me
dream for a bigger and a better future with you.

From many years I had been longing to know you
from closer, in deep and depth about you.
The day I got a chance to come to you
I was on cloud nine, celebrating the joy.

Though I was very happy to come to you,
I was panic- stricken if I could advance my whole life with you..
Though its very tough to understand you in depth,
I very well know its because of your realm, which is as vast as the universe.

In the step of understaning you,
you may obfuscate me.
It might be a tall order to get you in deep,
you may even seem stony and dreary to me.

But always remember, what may ever come between us,
I'll never and ever give you up.
Because you've always been my dream,
my passion and my hope in life.

What may ever happen to me in the future,
I very well know that you're
always there for me as an armour,
just to protect, defend and foster me.

My dear Law, you are a frosting for my life,
which no one can deprive you from me.
Its a pledge that I will make today,
that I will never, ever give you up in my life.
